Marie Monro‘s original artwork uses a variety of mixed media which includes collage, drawing, painting and printmaking.
Her work absorbs elements of poetry, asemic writing, symbolism, imagination and nature. Exploring themes of memory, renewal, hope and loss, where light and darkness co-exist.

This artwork is partly inspired by the poem ‘Echo’ by poet Christina Rossetti, which is hand-typed and attached to the back of the frame for reference.

The depiction of the tree, along with the hidden animals, fruit and seeds in this artwork are subconcious references from Marie’s original poem ‘Meniscus Tree’, which was written many years before the image was created. The poem is hand-typed and attached to the back of the frame for reference.

Inspiration for this artwork is absorbed from the life of poet, Sylvia Plath. The title is taken from a line in her poem ‘Black Pine Tree’.

This three-dimensional artwork is inspired by the Blood Moon. The title ‘It’s time to let go’ reflects the symbolism associated with that occurance as a time of transformation, release and spiritual awakening. The moth also suggests the same meaning.
